A baker's rack isn't just meant to be something where you put out the baked goods that you've made for the day. After all, most of us don't have a lot of time to spend every day making fresh loaves of bread to go with dinner. But that doesn't mean there's not a place for baker's racks in your kitchen. A baker's rack can actually serve a fantastic organizational purpose. And don't forget, this is the time of year you should be sprucing things up, cleaning things up and making that kitchen a little tidier.
So how do you use a baker's rack to really clean up your kitchen? Well, part of this is going to depend on the kind of baker's rack. If you haven't purchased one yet, you want to look for one with adjustable shelves. This means you can move any of the shelving units on the bakers rack up and down and to the height you want them to be. This is going to be extremely helpful when it comes to storing things.
Appliances
Most kitchens these days have a lot of appliances inside for all sorts of uses. It could be your electronic bread cutter, Panini maker, waffle maker, blender, food processor, can opener or any of a number of other gadgets that help make our cooking time a little bit easier. But you need somewhere to put all of these when you're not cooking. This is what one of the shelves on the Bakers rack can be used for. You can adjust it to the height of the highest appliance and stack the shelf with all of those appliances that are easy to find and see when you need them, but neatly put away for when you don't.
Cookbooks
Most people who spend a lot of time in the kitchen have a lot of cookbooks that they use when spending that time in the kitchen. Well that's another good use for a bakers rack. You may want to take one of those top shelves, the ones with the grating that allows them to breathe, to use for your book rack. Again, adjust the shelf to the height of your tallest book. Now you can put all of your cookbooks in there and have them nice and visible, and readily accessible, the next time you want to whip something up. The reason we advise that you use one of the metal rack shelves that breathe is because quite often there is a higher level of humidity in the kitchen. This generally is because there's a lot of cooking, steam and generally a lot of water in the air. By putting your books on a shelf that allows them to breathe, you limit the amount of condensation that stays in the books, as the air will dry them out.
China On Display
A final thing you may want to use some of those upper shelves of your bakers rack for is to display some of the beautiful things you have to use in your kitchen. Most folks have a least a couple pieces of china that either been handed down by a family member or are a special heirloom gift given to them somewhere along the way. When you're not using these, you should be showing them off, as they are beautiful pieces. Well, you could use the top shelf or two of the Bakers rack to do just that.
